Shaniece A. Charlemagne, MPH, MHA

Shaniece Charlemagne is the Chief Policy Advisor to the Office of the Lt. Governor in the U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI). She also serves as the Principal for Monumental International Management, LLC, a management and consulting agency. Her previous positions and roles included the Director of the Primary Care Office at the USVI Department of Health (USVIDOH); an active member of several USVIDOH committees and task forces; an MPH practicum preceptor; and the lead on multiple special projects for the USVI Office of the Commissioner.

Ms. Charlemagne received a BS in biology with a minor in chemistry from Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina; an MPH with a focus on health services policy and management from the University of South Carolina (USC); and an MHA from Webster University at the Columbia, South Carolina campus. As a W.K. Kellogg Fellow, she conducted research at the USC Institute for Partnerships to Eliminate Health Disparities. She also served as a Health Communication and Cancer Research Training Fellow at the National Cancer Institute in Rockville, Maryland.

Ms. Charlemagne currently is leading an effort, in partnership with faith-based organizations, neighborhoods, and governmental agencies in USVI, to stimulate and uplift neighborhoods and restore community pride. She is an active member of the Regional Health Equity Council (Region II), Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Rotary St. Thomas II, and the American Public Health Association. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club of the USVI as immediate past president.

Ms. Charlemagne has published various research articles/reports and is the recipient of numerous distinguished awards. She is a native of and continues to reside on the island of St. Thomas, USVI. She has maintained a strong commitment to the improvement of the USVI infrastructure by being “a power for good in society.”
