Charles E. Drum, MPA, JD, PhD, is a Professor of Health Management and Policy at the University of New Hampshire and the Director of the Institute on Disability (IOD).  IOD is a university center of excellence in disability with over 90 faculty and staff.  The IOD’s areas of emphasis include health and genetics, community living and employment, inclusive education, and assistive technology.  Dr. Drum is a national and international expert in disability and health issues, particularly in the areas of health disparities, health care access, and health promotion.  Among other accomplishments, Dr. Drum was the lead editor and authored several of the chapters of the first textbook on Disability and Public Health.  He is the author of more than 65 articles, reports, and chapters on disability issues, and seven training curricula.  Dr. Drum’s professional activities have been funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research, the National Institutes of Health, the Administration on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  Dr. Drum received his JD and MPA from the University of Oregon, his Ph.D. in social policy analysis from Brandeis University, and completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago.  Among other honors and awards, in 2009, he received the National Distinguished Disability Researcher Award at the Southwest Conference on Disabilities in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
